Free domain email, the real kind
Many registrars offer free email forwarding. That's useful, but it isn't email on your domain. Here's the difference.
| Free forwarding | PostPike Free mailbox | |
|---|---|---|
| Receive mail at you@yourdomain.com | Passed on to another inbox | Stored in your own mailbox |
| Send as you@yourdomain.com | Needs a separate sending server | Included |
| Works in Apple Mail, Outlook and the Gmail app | Only as the other account | IMAP and SMTP |
| Webmail, calendar and contacts | No | Included |
| Spam filtering for your domain | Depends on the inbox it lands in | Included |
| Mail stored by | Your other provider | PostPike, in the EU |
Keep your domain where it is
PostPike doesn't need you to move your domain. You add a handful of DNS records where your domain's DNS is managed, and PostPike checks each one and tells you when everything is ready.
- TXT _postpike Proves the domain is yours
- MX @ Delivers mail to PostPike
- TXT @ SPF: lets PostPike send for you
- TXT …_domainkey DKIM: signs every message
- TXT _dmarc DMARC: protects against spoofing

Can I get email on my domain for free?
Yes. If you own a domain, PostPike hosts real mailboxes on it for free: 5 mailboxes and 5 GB in total, with webmail and IMAP for your mail apps. You keep paying your registrar for the domain, as you do now.
Can I get a free email domain?
Not a reliable one. Free domain names have mostly disappeared, and the ones that remain can be taken back. A .com costs about $10 to $15 a year and stays yours, which matters for an address people will remember. Once you have it, the email on it can be free.
Is email forwarding enough?
Forwarding only passes incoming mail to another inbox. Replies still come from that other address unless you set up a separate sending server, and Gmail is ending the setting that made this easy on the web. A real mailbox on your domain sends and receives as you@yourdomain.com, everywhere.
Will my website keep working?
Yes. Email uses its own DNS records (MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC). Your website's records stay untouched, and so does the domain's registration.
My domain already receives some mail. Will that break?
No. When you sign up, mail that already arrives at your domain keeps working until you switch it over. If you want to keep your current provider for good, PostPike can work alongside Google, Microsoft or Zoho.
Can I use more than one domain?
Free covers one domain. Basic covers 5 and Pro 20, all in one account, and aliases can use any of them. See pricing.
